Dave Herman is a Certified Specialist of Spirits and a native New Yorker. After beginning his career in the music industry he decided to focus on his first love: food and drink. He began working with New York City’s premiere craft beer distributor and then moved to Spuyten Duyvil, the world-famous craft beer bar in Brooklyn. In 2008 he partnered to open the well-loved restaurant Porchetta in the East Village. Since selling his share of the restaurant, Dave has been committed to using his connoisseurship of fine alcoholic beverages and food to educate people on the best-made drinks and most delicious combinations available.
Dave is a regular instructor at The 92nd Street Y and The Institute of Culinary Education, and has also had classes featured at Haven’s Kitchen and other venues around New York City. He has created a variety of classes and pairings for events including corporate gatherings, charity fund raisers, and parties at private residences.
Dave also consults for bars and restaurants, helping to set up and manage all aspects of drinks service from layout and glassware to alcohol choices and pricing. With over a decade behind some of New York’s busiest bars combined with the experience of opening his own restaurant, Dave’s unique perspective helps maximize both efficiency and quality.
